How do I add a Facebook icon/button to my website?

I have followed the tutorial to set up my facebook page for my business. I am trying to add a button to place on my webpage to link to the facebook wall page, without any success. I want to put in one of the small “F” buttons that I have seen on other business websites. All I can make is a photo badge which turns out the wrong size on my page and shows unwanted text on the website such as my name or ” facebook badge end”.

Any help would be appreciated!

What you will need to do is very simple (isn’t that great?).
I have written step by steps instructions below. I hope they are clear. Don’t worry if something seems a bit tricky make sure you respond and I will explain again

How to add a Facebook icon to your website and link it to your Facebook business page.

Basically you need to follow the same steps you would follow as if you were to post a picture of your rooms on your homepage and link that picture to the rooms page. So this means finding the picture on your computer (or downloading it to your computer first), then uploading it to your website using your content management system, placing it where you want on your page and linking that picture to the page of your choice. Does that make sense?

Of course, instead of uploading a picture of your rooms to your website you will upload a Facebook icon and instead of linking it to your rooms page you will link it to your Facebook Business page.

Where to get a nice Facebook icon though (as you would have seen Facebook doesn’t seem to have them available on their Badge page)?Well you can start here but you have to be careful you abide by copyright laws (refer to the tutorials on Images in your MyWebSchool online marketing course). Alternatively, if you have a graphic artist in your extended family you can try to bribe him/her to create you a nice icon. What I would do though – to avoid copyright infringement – is search for “free Facebook Icons” on your favourite search engine and download one from a trusted source. They generally come in a set so you will have a matching icon for YouTube, Flickr, Twitter etc etc.

Finally, the poslish to ensure your online visitor has a nice experience doesn’t lose the your site along the way… When you link the icon to the Facebook business page ensure that you select “open in a new tab” in your CMS.

Et voila! It should take you approximately 15 minutes to complete these steps .Of course, if this sounds too complicated let us know and we will get it done for you next week at our preferential rate for MyWebSchool members.
